United Families International

The family, the fundamental unit of society and foundation of civilization, is under attack as never before. Marriage between man and woman is the cradle of life and foundation of family, but is in danger culturally and legally. Many recent events require good people of conscience to unite in defense of family and marriage.

United Families International was founded by concerned people in 1978 to defend family and marriage. The following is the mission statement of UFI:

Recognizing that "the family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society,"1 and "should be accorded" the "widest possible protection and assistance,"2 United Families International seeks to strengthen the family by promoting the following:

• marriage between man and woman, founded on chastity before marriage and fidelity in marriage;
• the sanctity of human life including unborn children;
• the right and obligation of parents to love, protect, provide for, and teach their children;
• respect for laws, policies, programs, political structures, cultural norms, and religious values that preserve and protect the family; and
• compassion for the disadvantaged and distressed, including orphans and street children.

1 U.N. Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948).
2 U.N. International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (adopted 1966; effective 1976).
