Update

Senate Committee Passes AB 849

On Tuesday, July 12, by a straight party line vote of 5 to 2 the Senate Judiciary Committee passed AB 849, the "new" version of AB 19, the bill that would legalize same-sex marriage in California.

With the legislature about to take a month long recess, AB 849 will not be considered by the full Senate before mid-August. United Families California will be sponsoring a major grassroots effort to contact Senators and urge them to oppose AB 849.

Thanks to the hundreds of you who responded to our last alert and contacted the senators on the Judiciary Committee and urged them to oppose this bad bill.
